Developer WeLoveMonsters hinted at a story extension being the reason this update was delayed. A lot of story is covered in this update, as Chapter 5 goes underway with a snowy memory. Our girls get the first vaccine shots, before harshly cutting to today's reality.
Both women are exposed to the infected, which means both pose a security risk that the Director has to deal with. While the company has motivations of their own entirely, Sarah is being tasked with a new mission that splits her up from her sister. Hence the new story arc.
Meanwhile Ava is back at the base and goes through her regular motions. The corruption spreads through her body, and the base finds a way to suppress it. While it works initially, their plan backfires as Ava allows corruption to spread.
This update puts a lot of emphasis on Director Kato and Doctor Rakita, as they both figure out the best way to manipulate the situation for their own gain. An attempt is made to show their most human sides, put people so delusional are beyond know what is good and bad. And that's what the game is going to stick with from now on.
Expect infections, intrigue and some blackmail as well. Not a whole lot of monsters in this update, although there is a bit near the end that shows promise.
