STORY
Let's make it clear - A Series Of Changes doesn't take itself seriously. At all. You are Billy, a young man who spends a summer with his grandmother Martha. She's sweet, but old and tired. They joke around until one day, Martha sees an ad for Jeunesse, an anti-aging perfume. Billy offers to buy it and soon enough, he gifts her a bottle. The flirting between the relatives comes to an all time high before 'nana' decides to spray herself and transforms into a younger, athletic woman. Martha's transformation causes her to have a heightened sex drive and apparently, a potty mouth.
The plot is nonsensical and you should not play this for story per sé. It's decent porn logic, but the writing is sketchy, humor a little childish and the game still features grammatical errors. Martha becomes something like a predator while Billy can't seem to stop gawking over his grandmother and whatever she throws at him. It's a little immature, but can be fun for a while. The game centers around bimbofication and when it reaches that state, it's definitely more about visuals than storylines.
For this game to reach higher heights, Farwest will have to look at the dialog critically, find out what works and rewrite portions of it to inject more based humor and explore characters a bit more than 'give me your horsecock'. Porn logic can work, but silly stories work best when humor is injected well - something porn movies also can't seem to get the hang of. It's not a bad ride, but it won't leave you spraying your walls as well.
PRESENTATION
ASOC is going for a doll look, meaning characters look cartoony and a little glossy/plastic. It has to be your style, but aside from the bright aesthetic most models in the game look good. Martha is a typical old woman at the start and gradually turns into a tank, before eventually asking new women into Billy's life. The bodies look alright, while Billy does suffer from 'horse cock' syndrome.
Animations are in the game, but they're few and fairly simple. The sex in the game is passable with a couple of standout renders in each scene, although it never really captures an intense mood between Billy and any of the women. Environments look believable enough, as does the world in which the story takes place. The inclusion of a certain Jack Swallow crushes all believability, but adds to the charm of the game nonetheless.
It can be a little hard to read names and menus due to the script font used and that would be my number one thing to change in the UI. For the most part, this game looks alright and does do it's women a bit of justice.
GAMEPLAY
This is a kinetic VN. There are a few choices, but those don't matter much if at all.
OVERALL
A Series Of Change is in a hard spot. It's a silly game, but doesn't always nail humor. It's not an ugly game, but the cartoon style isn't always too pleasing to the eye. The characters aren't total sandbags, but they lack the personality to stand out. It's an average game with a few bright spots. If you're looking for a fantasy game where grandma goes to town with her grandson after becoming her younger self again, this might be it for you.
