STORY
If anything, the developer of Shooting Star wants to tell a story. A story of how people overcome their past to become new people. That worked, for the most part. Shooting Star was a mildly enjoyable experience, but far too short. It's a story of depression, fear, trauma and how it changes you as a person.
The main story is the strongest part of Shooting Star, but does come with faults. Support characters are flown in and out without structure while the two main characters remain. It's a story of fear and love, with a sprinkle of lust. With more effort the story could have been told even better, but you get the gist of what's happening.
PRESENTATION
Rendering is low to medium quality, albeit a bit noisy. The game offers enough renders and switches between both first-person and third-person perspectives within the story. The latter half of the game actually seems better furnished and framed, which shows the dev increased in skill level as the story picked up.
GAMEPLAY
It's a fairly small game - completed in about 1.5 hours. Story choices give the illusion of change, but they are really just variations to the same road. Since the base story is good, that's really not a problem here. There are sexual scenes in there, which are about what you would expect from a game like this - but they seem randomly placed and aren't really rewarding.
OVERALL
I'd recommend this if you're looking for a small VN to have fun with and enjoy some story.
